EADFRITH

In the summer of 2013 Niels Shoe Meulman was invited to do a series of paintings inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels. This is a mural in Durham, UK. The scribe who wrote almost all of the Lindisfarne Gospels was called Eadfrith. Niels Shoe Meulman strongly feels that these type of monks were the graffiti writers of their time. The graffiti artist Eadfrith would be part of a crew called Quod Scripsi Scripsi (What I wrote I have written). There’s a very nice read about this on the BBC website. And don’t miss the video by Stephen Noble.
